Whether you’re a Red Kite Ride veteran or a newbie eager to conquer the Chilterns, we’re buzzing to have you join us for another epic ride. Last year was a massive success, raising a whopping £16,000 for local charities! Since 2012, we’ve raised over £100,000 – all thanks to incredible riders like you. 💪

The Red Kite Ride is more than just a bike ride; it’s a cycling festival organised by cyclists for cyclists. We’ve got everything you could want:

      • Jaw-Dropping Scenery: Feast your eyes on rolling hills, picturesque villages (the kind you’d see in Midsomer Murders!), and maybe even catch a glimpse of the majestic Red Kite soaring above. 🏞️
      • Fuel for the Ride: Our legendary feed stations are packed with delicious treats, both sweet and savoury, to keep you energized. Oh, and did we mention the awesome volunteers and adorable dogs ready to give you a boost? 🐶🍪
      • Post-Ride Party: Cross the finish line at Marlow Sports Club and celebrate your accomplishment with live music, refreshing Rebellion beer, and a mouthwatering BBQ. 🎶🍻🍔
      • The Latest in Cycling Tech: This year’s event is sponsored by Vires Velo (https://www.viresvelo.com), who’ll be on-site with the latest and greatest Factor bikes for you to check out. 🚴
      • Win Big with Our Raffle: Enter our raffle for a chance to win amazing prizes, including something very special from Vires Velo. Stay tuned for more details! 🎉
      • Free tea or coffee on arrival!

Grab your entry for just £40 (early bird price rises to £45 on April 22nd). Every penny, after covering our volunteer-led event costs, goes straight to supporting fantastic local causes. 🧡

Ready to make some memories? Sign up now and let’s ride! 👉

We recommend arriving early if you’re planning to enter on the day; registration is open from 7.00 am to 8.30 am for the 100-mile ride, until 9.30 am for the 80-mile ride and 10.00 am for the 50-mile ride.  Registration is at Marlow Sports Club, Pound Ln, Marlow SL7 2AE.

Routes & Rider Information 2025

Our routes for 2025 are here!

The feedback we received for our new routes in 2024 was overwhelmingly positive, so much so that we will keep the same routes (subject to any roadworks) for 2025!

The Red Kite Ride offers a choice of four routes over 40, 50, 80 or 100 miles to appeal to a range of cyclists.

New for 2025, we have also introduced a 39-mile route with fewer hills to tackle than our other routes.

Whichever route you choose you will be cycling through some of the most picturesque parts of the Chilterns. This is the land of “Midsomer Murders”, “The Vicar of Dibley” and countless TV commercials. But it is also great cycling territory.

All routes start and finish at the Marlow Sports Club, with the first riders able to leave at 7.30am.

On your return you’ll receive a warm reception with medal and goodie bag. There will be a BBQ, hot and cold drinks, plenty of cake, and sounds from Marlow FM.

We may need to make further minor changes to these routes so please do not download them to your devices until closer to the day.

Parking

Please note there is no car parking available at Marlow Sports Club.

You can purchase a car park ticket for the event parking at Fieldhouse Lane, a short ride from Marlow Sports Club (past the Travelodge, under the A404 on the left). The parking will be signposted to and from MSC and will be marshalled on the day to help with any parking and directions you may need. You can also find it using What Three Words: access.ratio.charted

Please make sure to add a car parking ticket to your entry via RiderHQ.

Marlow Riders Cycling Club (2025)

Marlow Riders was established as a new cycling club after a few members trained for a cycling adventure to Paris in August 2010 to celebrate an important birthday of Jonathan Smith, a long time and respected member of the affiliated Marlow Striders Running Club and Course Director for the Marlow Half Marathon.

Marlow Riders ethos is based on sociable cycling for all. We welcome all levels of cyclists to join us….you will not be left behind. We start together and finish together and on the way we may enjoy the odd “cuppa”. We are delighted that that our membership includes 30% female members.

Our regular rides are every Saturday morning.  Rides normally last for 2 1/2 hours.  We ride in groups of typically no more than 10 riders.

Each group has its own group leader who will navigate the route and determine the pace to be set.  Our groups are divided into five ability groups:

  • Lions – beginners
  • Easy Tigers
  • Jaguars
  • Leopards
  • Cheetahs – fastest

We also run informal rides on Sunday mornings, evening summer rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as a Cheetahs ride on Wednesday mornings.

We ask new riders to let us know before riding with us for the first time.  For more details please google ‘Marlow Riders ‘
